Audience: Adult learners and corporate trainees.
Delivery: Gamified learning activity.
Purpose: Increase engagement and knowledge retention through themed exploration.
Business Problem
Learner disengagement and low motivation often reduce the effectiveness of traditional training materials.
Instructional Solution
I designed a themed memory game that uses exploration and discovery to motivate learners. The experience demonstrates how storytelling and visual themes can increase engagement while reinforcing learning objectives.
Tools Used
Articulate Storyline, Google Docs, Miro for mapping.
By the end of this course, learners will be able to:
Recall information through visual association.
Maintain attention through interactive exploration.
Engage in repeated practice in a motivating environment.
Gamified learning design: Exploration and discovery element.
Visual learning: Strong imagery to support memory.
Engagement-first approach: Designed to increase motivation without sacrificing clarity.
Reinforcement learning: Encourages repeated play.
I began by researching game-based learning strategies and exploratory learning models that encourage curiosity and problem-solving. I analyzed learner motivation factors and identified opportunities to embed learning objectives within an adventure-style experience.
Learning objectives were defined to focus on discovery, decision-making, and knowledge application. I storyboarded the learner journey in Miro, mapping exploration paths, challenges, and feedback moments. The storyboard ensured a logical progression while allowing learners to explore at their own pace. I then developed the game experience with interactive elements that reinforced learning goals. The final design emphasized engagement, intuitive navigation, and instructional alignment.
This project highlights my ability to balance engagement with instructional intent.
In corporate training, this approach can be applied to onboarding, compliance refreshers, and knowledge reinforcement initiatives.
